Everton fans react as club could reportedly bring Maurizio Sarri back to England this summer
The managerial merry-go-round has now added a surprise club to the drama in the shape of Everton. Real Madrid made the sudden decision to bring Carlo Ancelotti back as gaffer. Now, Maurizio Sarri could reportedly be an option as the manager search continues – and Everton fans have responded on Twitter.
Ancelotti, 61, has returned to Madrid – six years after leaving the club. It is a bit of a surprise that Ancelotti got the job. Indeed, both Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte were considered the front runners because of their calibre. Instead, Florentino Perez decided to bring in Ancelotti.
Now, Everton are on the lookout for replacements. The out-of-work quartet of Nuno Espirito Santo, Eddie Howe, Frank Lampard and Rafa Benitez are contenders. Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is on the shortlist – while Belgium’s Roberto Martinez could possibly return.

But another out-of-work manager that could be an option if ex-Chelsea gaffer Sarri. The man who won the Europa League with Chelsea, and then Serie A with Juventus, has not been in a job since being replaced by Andrea Pirlo in 2020. Now, say Sarri is an option for Everton.
