Everton fans impressed by Jordan Pickford despite defeat to Sheffield United
Already-relegated Sheffield United secured a shock win at Goodison Park on Sunday night as Everton suffered an enormous blow to their already thinning European qualification hopes – but fans have praised Jordan Pickford.
Having watched Tottenham Hotspur beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 and Liverpool earn a bizarre last-minute winner over West Bromwich Albion with an Alisson header, Everton knew they needed to beat the Blades.
But Daniel Jebbison, a 17-year-old that had been handed his first start by interim Blades manager Paul Heckingbottom, scored the only goal of the game after seven minutes. Everton’s poor home form continued.
Despite the likes of Richarlison, Bernard, Dom Calvert-Lewin and plenty more being used by Carlo Ancelotti on the final third, they could not break down an incredibly hard-working Sheffield United side – despite their relegation.
Pickford, 27, has improved over the course of the last few months after a brief spell in which Ancelotti differed between him and loanee Robin Olsen. But he was unable to secure his tenth clean of the sheet on Sunday.
However, Everton fans have reacted on Twitter to the performance of Pickford by impressing the England number one – with many stating that the £100,000-a-week goalkeeper was the only one that got pass marks.
Only Pickford has been worth a carrott in the last few months!!!

Give Pickford the captain armband right now and genuinely never thought I’d say that and wanted him out last season. The only one that seems to be trying to motivate and actively get things moving.
