Everton fans discuss Tom Davies cameo role against Fleetwood, amid Southampton link

Tom Davies managed just 28 minutes as a substitute against Fleetwood Town on Wednesday night as Everton earned a second consecutive 5-2 win over Joey Barton’s League One outfit – and Toffees fans have responded on Twitter.

Everton secured another high-scoring win thanks to a Richarlison brace and goals from Bernard, Alex Iwobi and Moise Kean. It comes after the Toffees earned a 5-2 win over West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Davies, 22, has fallen down the pecking order at Everton after Carlo Ancelotti splashed the cash on Brazilian holding midfielder Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure from Watford and playmaker James Rodriguez. Fabian Delph started on Wednesday.

The Everton academy product was brought in with less than half an hour to play in order to stem the flow of goals, as Fleetwood came back into the match after the half-time break. That is, despite reports Southampton are looking to sign him on loan.

Southampton want to sign England Under-21 international Davies on loan before October 5’s deadline, but the Toffees would rather cash in on a player who has played 124 times in all competitions for the Merseyside outfit.

Everton supporters have responded on Twitter to Davies’ cameo role and many are keen to see him leave the club on loan and get some game time at Goodison Park.
