Everton fans delighted as Lucas Digne pictured back in training

Everton fans were treated to a little surprise today, with Lucas Digne back on the grass at Finch Farm.

The Frenchman has been working hard to recover from ankle ligament damage, which required a small surgery.

He’s been out of action since the end of November with the issue, and has missed seven games across all competitions so far.

Everton fans feared him being missed, but the Toffees have actually done very well in his absence, picking up 13 points from a possible 18.

The man who has covered for him is summer signing Ben Godfrey, who has done remarkably at left-back despite being a predominantly right-footed centre-half.

Carlo Ancelotti recently commented that the former Barcelona star is on track to return to action by the end of January, and it seems he is very much on track.

Everton today released images of £18 million star () Digne at Finch Farm.

He wasn’t with his teammates as part of a full session, but did undertake some light ball work. Ancelotti has suggested he will get back to proper sessions in around a week, which is a major boost.

On social media, Evertonians were delighted to see Digne seemingly making great progress as they obviously know him to be a crucial player in the starting XI:
