Everton fans blown away by Ben Godfrey performance in win over Arsenal
Everton kept themselves firmly in the hunt for the European positions with a narrow win over Arsenal on Friday night – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter picked out their star Ben Godfrey for his individual display.
The Toffees recorded a slender 1-0 away victory last night at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League meeting.
It wasn’t a pleasing game on the eye, and the deciding goal mirrored that. Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno showed some poor handling to net an own goal for the Gunners in the second half.
Everton left the capital though with a spring in their step, as they closed the gap on the teams above them.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are still eighth in the league standings. However, they are only a point behind seventh-placed Liverpool, and only three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
With six league matches remaining, the Merseyside club are right in the mix to finish in one of the European spots.

A selection of Everton supporters on social media were left raving about Godfrey after his latest performance.
The 23-year-old defender started alongside Mason Holgate against Arsenal, as the duo formed the centre-back partnership.
He produced a thunderous but fair challenge on Dani Ceballos during the game that was a memorable moment. As well as that, the centre-half was his usual self with a composed showing using his speed and strength when needed.
Here are some Everton fans discussing Godfrey:
