Everton eyeing ‘extraordinary’ striker likened to Kane, contract’s up in summer – journalist

Everton are reportedly looking to bolster their attacking ranks in order to boost their battle against Premier League relegation.

Frank Lampard’s Toffees are 18th in the standings, having failed to win their last six in the top flight.

In addition, the Blues have also scored the fourth-least number of goals in the Premier League this season.

Everton star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has once again been plagued by injury problems.

Meanwhile, Neal Maupay has scored just once in 13 Premier League outings.

The January transfer window has arrived just in time for Everton to try and rectify their situation.

And there’s one player who may just fit the bill for the Toffees in terms of quality, availability and budget.

Journalist Simon Phillips has told that Lampard is pushing for Everton to sign Ben Brereton Diaz this month.

The Goodison Park outfit was linked with the Chile international in the summer.

However, with his contract expiring at the end of the season, Everton could potentially pick him up for cheap.

Phillips told : “They’re pondering a move and he will be a cheap option.

“Lampard is seriously pushing for that signing again.”

He has become a prolific goalscorer in the Championship and has also become a star for Chile.

Brereton Diaz enjoyed a superb campaign last time out, scoring  in 37 Championship outings for Rovers.

This season, the 6ft 1in ace has 10 goals and four assists from 29 outings in all competitions.

For Chile, Brereton Diaz has four goals from 17 caps.

He knows English football inside out, is physical and prolific, can play across the whole front line, and wouldn’t break the bank.
