Report: Everton closer than ever to signing ‘amazing’ int’l player, he could even start against Villa next weekend
Everton are close to pulling off the signing of Wolves defender, Conor Coady, with claiming a deal could be in place before the game with Aston Villa.
Coady departing Wolves is one of the most surprising pieces of news in the entire window. Having been a stalwart and captain for Wolves over a number of seasons, Bruno Lage has seemingly turned to new faces after signing Nathan Collins this summer.

And according to Sky, it is Everton who have won the race to sign Coady, with the defender even in line to play against Aston Villa next weekend for his debut. The Toffees will have beaten West Ham to the signing of Coady. Reports over the weekend had suggested the Hammers were trying to land the Wolves man, but it seems Everton have won the race now.
Coady himself will be wanting regular first-team football with the World Cup just around the corner. Having impressed Gareth Southgate, Coady will be hoping to get a place on the plane to Qatar by impressing for Everton.
TBR’s View: Everton Signing Coady Is A Masterstroke
Wolves’ loss will be Everton’s gain here. Coady is a seasoned Premier League defender with a big personality and a big impact on the field.
Of course, Bruno Lage will have his reasons for letting this one go ahead and it might simply be as a sign of respect to Coady that he is letting him to get regular football if he can’t offer it him.
For Everton, this is a fine piece of business. Frank Lampard will now be able to play two England internationals alongside each other in Coady and Tarkowski, while the likes of Keane and Mina mean the Toffees have good depth as well at the back.
