Everton fans rave about performance of Andre Gomes in Manchester United draw

Everton played their part in an entertaining 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored once again after just three minutes to give the Toffees an early lead.

United earned a share of the spoils thanks to Bruno Fernandes, however, with the Portuguese midfielder scoring after 31 minutes.

One extremely pleasing aspect of the contest from an Everton point of view was the first start for Andre Gomes since his horrific injury.

He played for 82 minutes before being replaced by Moise Kean for the closing stages.

The £22 million man is clearly an integral part of Everton’s midfield and his return will be a massive bonus for Carlo Ancelotti.

Supporters will hope he can now stay fit for the remainder of the campaign given that he was vitally important against United.

It seems remarkable to think the Portuguese maestro suffered such a horrendous injury and it really is testament to the character of Gomes.

Following the game, supporters took to Twitter to praise the 26-year-old on his return and state their delight to see him back.

On £112,000-a-week, Everton clearly value Gomes highly and the former Barcelona man could be significant in the team’s push towards a European place.
