Everton and Wolves now chase ‘breathtaking’ £50m player who’s been tipped to win the Ballon d’Or

Wolves and Everton have been linked with making a move for Newcastle United superstar Allan Saint-Maximin.

The Magpies are happy to cash in on the mercurial Frenchman this summer, according to the .

Newcastle’s number 10 has become a fan favourite at St James’ Park since arriving from Nice in 2019 and the 25-year-old is usually a livewire when he is given the chance to showcase his blistering pace and dazzling dribbling skills.

report that Eddie Howe is concerned by Saint-Maximin’s ‘hefty salary demands’. The French Under-21 international has over four-years left on his current deal, but it has been reported that he has been pushing for a contract extension for much of the season.

Given the length on Saint-Maximin’s contract, PIF are ‘unsure about offering him a significant wage rise’.

When Newcastle’s takeover was completed back in October, it seemed that Saint-Maximin would be one of the very few players that would form a part of the club’s ambitious project for many years to come.

But that’s far from the case and the Mail have reported that the Toon Army would be prepared to sell him for around £50million.

With Wolves looking to replace fellow speed demon Adama Traore – who better to replace the blistering Spaniard then Saint-Maximin who would be a perfect like-for-like replacement.

Traore is currently on loan at Barcelona until the end of the season and even if the Catalans don’t take up the option of signing the winger on a permanent deal, 90min report that Traore has no future at Molineux.

Everton are also monitoring how the Saint-Maximin situation unfolds, but with their focus on retaining their Premier League status, Frank Lampard cannot be considering summer transfer targets while his side are engulfed in a relegation dogfight.

One man that is hoping Saint-Maximin doesn’t leave Tyneside is former Newcastle man David Ginola who labelled the Frenchman as Newcastle’s ‘jewel in the crown’ on Sky Sports on Sunday.

Kieran Trippier has the ‘breathtaking’ Saint-Maximin to win the Ballon d’Or based on his quality both in the Premier League and in training.
