Everton and West Ham make contact over ‘quick’ striker who has played at two World Cups

TBR Football can exclusively confirm that Everton and West Ham United have both made enquiries about Monaco forward Breel Embolo.

Everton and West Ham are both looking to strengthen their attacking ranks in the January transfer window.

The Toffees have scored just 18 goals in the Premier League this season, the second-lowest in the division.

Meanwhile, the Hammers are without Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio at present, while Niclas Fullkrug has struggled to settle.

Now, TBR Football can reveal the latest involving Embolo’s situation – but there’s a problem with regards to Everton and West Ham’s interest in the Swiss striker.

Everton and West Ham in Breel Embolo race but Como frontrunners

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands Everton and West Ham have both enquired about Breel Embolo this month.

Monaco are ready to allow the Swiss striker to leave this month, as they have brought in Mika Biereth, meaning Embolo could be allowed to leave.

Both Everton and West Ham are eager to bolster their attacking ranks this month, and are looking at a number of options and both have looked into Embolo’s siuation.

However, sources have confirmed big spending Italian outfit Como are leading the chase.

They have opened talks over a possible deal with the Principality outfit and are currently in pole position to land the 27-year-old.

What Embolo could bring to Everton or West Ham

Should Everton or West Ham manage to sign Embolo, they’d be getting an experienced striker in his prime with experience at the highest level.

Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl previously said of Embolo, as per the : “He’s quick, strong and a goal threat – and is a great fit for our squad.”

He has won 73 caps for Switzerland and has taken part in two World Cups (2018, 2022) and three European Championships (2016, 2020, 2024).

Embolo has spent time on the sidelines due to injuries at various points of his career, but this season he has maintained his fitness.

He has made 25 appearances for Monaco this term, registering five goals and five assists.
