European club have just made signing £50m Arsenal player their main priority this summer
Both Mikel Arteta and Edu seem very aware of Arsenal’s pressing need to offload several players on the periphery of things this summer.
In fact, Arsenal’s transfer policy is now to sell before they buy in the remaining six weeks of the window – hoping to replace those not getting minutes with high-calibre alternatives.
That being said, Arsenal are willing to make an exception for Riccardo Calafiori, who they would buy before someone like Jakub Kiwior or Oleksandr Zinchenko left.
But otherwise, when chasing the likes of Nico Williams or Mikel Merino, Edu and his team will try to offload players beforehand, creating space on the wage bill and generating funds.
That being said, it seems fairly certain that the likes of Kieran Tierney and Aaron Ramsdale will leave the club in some capacity this summer.
Arsenal would likely prefer a permanent exit for both, but could eventually succumb to a loan bid.
But the situation seems a little more uncertain with the likes of Eddie Nketiah – who could still have a first team role.
Marseille make Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah their ‘priority’ target this summer
Although, it now seems as if Nketiah is finally ready to leave Arsenal, perhaps not content with the minutes he’s receiving.
According to a journalist in France, Olympique Marseille have now made it clear that Nketiah is their ‘priority’ signing in attack.

And in addition, Nketiah is said to be open to Marseille’s interest – who are confident of agreeing a deal with Arsenal.
They wrote: “OM has made the English striker its priority in attack. The player is not insensitive to Marseille’s interest,
“The club is rather confident in doing the deal despite Arsenal’s significant demands.”
A price tag of around £50m has previously been mentioned for Nketiah – one that would appear very rich.
And in reality, Arsenal would probably be willing to accept a much lower sum for a player who is now third-choice behind Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.
And when speaking about Arsenal offloading players in order to buy, perhaps Nketiah’s exit could help launch a move for someone like Williams.
That being said, a youngster who Mikel Arteta previously wanted to sell has been spotted in pre-season training.
