Eunan O’Kane’s miserable season made worst by double promotion bids
When Leeds United appointed Marcelo Bielsa as their new manager in the summer the Argentine quickly went about initiating some change at Elland Road. That included with the playing staff. Some of the Leeds first-team were immediately considered surplus to requirements.
One such player was Eunan O’Kane.
Signed by Garry Monk he arrived with plenty of promise. The Irish international had won promotion previously with Bournemouth and Leeds fans were hopeful he could bring some of that experience to the club.

However, that never really proved to be the case. O’Kane struggled for form at Elland Road. Some of his performances last season were below par for a player of his quality and it was no surprise that Bielsa decided to give Mateusz Klich a go and let O’Kane leave.
It has since been a frustrating campaign for O’Kane. Leeds eventually loaned him out to Luton Town in League One. O’Kane suffered a double leg break just four games into his loan spell and his season was ended.
Now, to add insult to misery, both Leeds and Luton are now in a promotion battle and the Irishman can take no part in either.
He is under contract at Leeds until 2021, which could give the Whites a headache when he returns to fitness. But this must be an incredibly frustrating season for the 28-year-old Leeds man.
