Nwaneri was often starting in Saka’s absence, an 18-year-old who was perhaps being asked to play a bigger role at Arsenal than Arteta would have liked.
In a similar situation with Myles Lewis-Skelly, Arteta has clearly been keen to avoid pushing his youngsters into too many minutes too soon.
Of course, Lewis-Skelly has ultimately proved that he is ready now, explaining why he started both legs against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Lewis-Skelly was exceptional against Madrid, a youngster who is certainly here to stay at the Emirates Stadium.

Andrea Berta seeking big Arsenal striker upgrade

It remains to be seen what level of club the 22-year-old will join — perhaps he will find an opportunity in the Championship for example.
But with next season in mind, Andrea Berta is looking for a striker who’s ready to score 20 goals a season for Arsenal right now.
Therefore, Berta has held talks with Benjamin Sesko at RB Leipzig, a striker who’s long been linked with a move to north London.
Interestingly, Berta rejected one of Arteta’s striker ideas since arriving at the club, an experienced head who already seems certain on how to improve Arsenal’s squad.
