ESPN pundit says he really likes 24-year-old Arsenal player who doesn’t get enough credit

Don Hutchison believes Eddie Nketiah is underrated, but admitted that he does not think that Arsenal get enough goals from their number nine to win the Premier League title.

Eddie Nketiah is one player who may be keeping one eye on the business Arsenal do in the January transfer window. The Gunners continue to be linked with strikers, including Ivan Toney.

Unfortunately, Arsenal’s attack has not been as prolific this season. And Gabriel Jesus is one of those who has been disappointing in front of goal – in the Premier League anyway.

Don Hutchison thinks Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is underrated

The Brazilian has only scored twice in the top-flight. Meanwhile, Nketiah has found the back of the net five times so far. Nketiah also scored a brilliant goal in the Champions League against PSV Eindhoven this week.

Admittedly, Don Hutchison believes that Arsenal will fall short in the title race. However, he has told that the 24-year-old does not get enough credit in his eyes.

“I don’t see Arsenal, not with any confidence. Not because they’re not playing well, but I just think they’re something short. I don’t think they’ve got the goals in the number nine,” he said.

“I think Jesus works incredibly hard. But he’s not Haaland. He’s not going to get 20-odd goals. Nketiah, I like. He works hard. I think he’s underrated. But I think they’re missing that x-factor.”

Gunners forward yet to prove he’s really to play regularly

The problem with Nketiah is he has rarely been able to take full advantage of the chances he has had. He has definitely had moments.

He did brilliantly just after Jesus sustained an injury at the World Cup last season. And of course, he scored a hat-trick against Sheffield United earlier this term.

However, he has been unable to kick on. In fact, his goal against PSV was his first in any competition since that treble against the Blades.

So it will be interesting to see what happens if Arsenal do sign a striker in January. Nketiah has already had to be patient. And he may not be content in the long-term if he is suddenly relegated to being third choice for Mikel Arteta’s side.
