൲ESPN pundit Craig Burley has labelled Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the ‘luckiest boy alive’ after his move to Barcelona yesterday following his Arsenal exit.

♊The Gabon star fell out with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta early in December and he didn’t play a game for the Gunners after that. He was forced away from the squad and the Gunners decided to terminate his contract to let him go.

🅘Aubameyang officially joined Barcelona on a free transfer and that is an incredible move for him after how poor his performances were for Arsenal since the start of last season.

ღBurley believes that the 32-year-old is incredibly fortunate and also claimed that he doesn’t understand how a striker of his skill set would fit in at the Camp Nou.

Craig Burley: Aubameyang is lucky to join Barcelona

🎉Asked if Aubameyang’s transfer to Barcelona makes sense, Burley said on : “Not really, no. Aubameyang, for me, different position, but can play wide, is kind of similar (to Adama Traore). Therefore, he thrives on that space in behind.

💜“Barcelona, even with a young and inexperienced team, still tend to dominate a lot of games domestically, certainly against the smaller teams.

ꦑ“There’s no denying his talent but it seems Barcelona have a pension for a bad apple. This guy had some problems at Dortmund, he has had some problems at Arsenal, hence the reason he wasn’t playing.

𓆏“He’s the luckiest boy alive to get a move to a club of Barcelona’s size after not only the way he has conducted himself, for club and country, but the way he is playing. He has not played well either.”

♛It is unusual to see a player who can’t get a game for Arsenal find a way to secure a move to Barcelona, but luck really isn’t a factor in Aubameyang’s case, is it?

ꦚYes, he has been really poor for the Gunners over the last 18 months, but that’s his only underwhelming spell for the better part of the last decade.

🎀Concerns regarding how he’d fit in at Barcelona are understandable, but if Xavi finds a way to play to the Gabon star’s strengths, Aubameyang could become the regular goalscorer that he once was.

♌It will be interesting to see how he fares in the next few months but don’t be surprised if he becomes a fantastic goalscorer again.
