Eriksen to Bayern ‘would not make any sense’, says legend Matthäus

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has recently been linked with a move to German giants Bayern Munich ().

The playmaker, as everyone knows, is out of contract next summer and the Dane appears unlikely to sign an extension.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a host of clubs over the past few months, such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and Juventus.

Bayern are the latest side credited with an interest, but one man simply can’t get his head around the idea.

Club legend Lothar Matthäus, who also works on Sky, believes Eriksen would not help Bayern.

, the most-capped German international player of all time said: “I have been following the player for a long time and he has disappointed me so far in 2019. A transfer to FC Bayern would not make any sense for me and would be very surprising.

For me, he is not a player who helps Bayern. If he is not enough for Tottenham, he is not good enough for Bayern. Uli Hoeneß has also said that Bayern do not need substitutes.”

TBR’s view

Matthäus’ comments cut quite deep, especially when one takes into account Eriksen’s form pre-2019/20.

Perhaps he has a point though. At this moment in time, Bayern are able to boast some very talented midfielders such as Thiago Alcantara, Corentin Tolisso, Philippe Coutinho and Leon Goretzka.

At the moment Eriksen would not get into that midfield and the Bavarians will surely desire to keep Coutinho if the Brazilian continues his fine form over at the Allianz Arena.
