Erik ten Hag set to make his return to management with surprise club after Man United sacking
TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Erik ten Hag is on the verge of making his managerial return seven months after Manchester United sacked him.
The Dutch manager has been without a job since the Red Devils sacked him in October earlier this season after a poor start to a 2024/25 season.
Ruben Amorim replaced ten Hag, but results did not improve, rather only went on to become worse with the club finishing the season in 15th place.
And while he has not been linked with many jobs, he is now reportedly closing on his first role since the sacking.

Erik ten Hag close to becoming the new Bayer Leverkusen manager
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has been informed that Erik ten Hag’s agents are pushing to finalise a deal for former Manchester United head coach to take over at Bayer Leverkusen.
TBR Football can confirm that several Premier League managers were being considered by Bayer Leverkusen, with the German club making contact with both, Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner and Fulham’s Marco Silva.
However, Ten Hag has now emerged as the most likely option as he looks set to take up his first role since leaving Manchester United last year.
Erik ten Hag’s difficult stint at Manchester United
Ten Hag was appointed Manchester United manager in April 2022, following a highly successful spell in the Netherlands.
He ended the season strongly with the club returning to the Champions League, reaching the FA Cup final, and winning the EFL Cup.
His first full season saw Man United finish eighth in the league, but he still managed to deliver silverware as he won the FA Cup, beating city rivals Manchester City.

Despite struggles in the Premier League, Ten Hag’s contract was extended in July 2024. But a poor start to the new season led to his dismissal in October.
His replacement, Ruben Amorim, has not fared any better, suggesting United’s problems may run far deeper than just the man in the dugout.
Given that despite United’s problems, the Dutch manager delivered two trophies should encourage Bayer Leverkusen fans as he closes in on the new job.
