‘Erik ten Hag called me’… ‘Fast’ striker confirms Manchester United tried to sign him in 2022
Brian Brobbey has claimed that Erik ten Hag personally tried to sign him for Manchester United in the summer of 2022.
The Red Devils have missed out on a number of their key targets over the last few years, haven’t they? Brobbey has now revealed that he decided to reject a move to Manchester United despite a direct phone call from Ten Hag.

Brian Brobb🐲ey is one of the most talented players in the Netherlands right now.
The 21-year-old has been a bit of a shining light in what has otಌherwise been a disastrous campaign for Ajax this season. He has scored 12 goals and provided four assists in 24 appearances so far.
Brobbey is a wanted man again, with reports claiming Manchester United and Arsenal want to sign him at some point this year.
The Red Devils’ interest, however, isn’t new – they’ve wanted him for a while now, and the youngster has now revealed that his old boss Erik ten Hag personally tried to bring him to Old Trafford 18 months ago, befor♛e the start of last season.
Brobbey told : “Manchester United wanted me, but I really wanted to return to Ajax permanently. To make this possible, my agent José Fortes Rodriguez even wa෴ived his hefty resale percentage.”
“Erik ten Hag called me and at United, José could get his millions and I could earn a multiple of my Ajax salary. But our decision was made: we wanted to go t✨o Ajax.”

Brian Brobbey has plenty of admirers across Europe, including his compatriot, national team skipper and Liverpool star, Virgil van Dijk.
The Reds centre-half is one of the best defe𒁏nders in the world, and he knows a good striker when he sees one. He has already raved about Brobbey, branding him as a ‘great talent’ who is ‘strong, fast and can finish well’.
Speaking about Brobbey, Van Dijk told in October 2022: “I think he’s a great boy. He is a great talent and basically has everything. Hཧe is fast, st▨rong and can finish well.”
Manchester United were right to target a player like Brobbey 18 months ago, and it will be interesting to see if they will try and sign him 𒊎again in the summer.
