Eric Dier says something ‘very strange’ happened against Arsenal which ‘nobody is talking about’

Arsenal vs Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening was, yet another, big game marred by refereeing controversies.

Bayern Munich scored a penalty of their own, while Arsenal were denied a spot kick in the dying second𝕴s of the game.

However, there were a few more incidents during the game that perhaps should’ve been highlighted, and according to Eric Dier, th༒er🐬e was a very strange refereeing decision that nobody is talking about.

The strange refereeing decision in Arsenal vs Bayern Munich

Eric Dier about one refereeing decision that s♐eemed to go unnoticed.

“I think we should have had a penalty. What do you think I’m saying for? When Raya passed the ball to Gabriel, it’s strange, nobody is talki🌼ng about it. Because he passed it like a goal kick, the ref blew the whistle and he passed the ball and Gabriel picked it up, it was a very strange situation.”

Eric Dier is technically correct

Dier is technically right here.

Gabriel did indeed seem to pick the ball up after a goal ki༒ck was taken, but, luckily,🥂 common sense prevailed here.

Gabriel wasn’t trying to gain a sporting advantage in this situation, he was clearly confuse⛦d by the timing of the referee’s whistle and he placed the ball down to get going again.

Bayern Munich may have wanted a penalty, but th🉐e reality is that this isn’t what the sport is about.

It’s almost the equivalent to a Mankad in cricket, it’s a silly incident that you could pick up on if you were being super stringent, but, at t♒he end of the day, it goes against the spirit of the game and the right call was ultimately made here.

Dier does🔴 have some right to feel annoyed, but, at the same time, it would be incredibly unsatisfying if an incident like this decided such an incredible tie.
