Eric Dier has already set Bundesliga record after leaving Tottenham in January

Eric Dier has already set a Bundesliga record just weeks after leaving Tottenham for Bayern Munich.

It was Opta who provided the information.

So, what has Eric Dier achieved after leaving Tottenham? Let’s take a look…

Eric Dier sets Bundesliga record after leaving Tottenham

Well, Spurs sold the England international to Bayern Munich in a January deal.

Dier has already experienced an eventful time at the Allianz Arena as Bayern Munich slip ten points behind Bayer Leverkusen, and Thomas Tuchel has also announced a summer departure.

Interestingly, the Bayern Munich No.15 has also set a Bundesliga record.

Opta : “0 – Eric Dier is the only outfield player in this season’s Bundesliga to have played at least 500 minutes and not been dribbled past by an opponent once. Rock.”

Of course, there are still ten Bundesliga games remaining in the 2023/24 campaign, but this statistic would suggest the 30-year-old has adjusted well to life in Munich.

Dier has made Bundesliga appearances in total since his January move, while also playing 90 minutes in the UEFA Champions League as Bayern progressed into the quarter-final with a 3-0 win over Lazio.

Playing for a contract

Bayern Munich only signed Dier on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

The agreement included an option for Bayern Munich to extend that contract by a further 12 months, so effectively, the Englishman is fighting for his future in Germany.

There are apparently concerns about Dier’s lack of pace from those within the Allianz Arena, but if the man from Cheltenham continues to block attackers from dribbling past him, he surely has a good chance of earning a new contract.

Dier could also be a shock inclusion in England’s UEFA EURO 2024 squad if he continues to deliver, given his strong relationship with Gareth Southgate – who has already praised his efforts in Germany.
