Enrique says Liverpool have a young defender who’s actually ‘quicker’ than Joe Gomez, he could start against City

Jose Enrique believes Liverpool’s young centre-half Ibrahima Konate is actually quicker than Joe Gomez, who is one of the fastest centre-backs in the country.
Liverpool take on Manchester City in the semi-final of the FA Cup at Wembley this afternoon.
Jurgen Klopp’s last trip to Wembley was a successful one. The Reds beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final on penalties and picked up their first trophy of the season.
Liverpool would love to do the same in the FA Cup as well, but City will pose a much bigger threat today than Chelsea did in the final of the Carabao Cup back in February.
Jose Enrique thinks Ibrahima Konate is quicker than Joe Gomez
Jurgen Klopp has alternated between Joel Matip and Konate at the back for Liverpool. The former usually gets the nod in the Premier League while the Frenchman has been a regular in the Champions League.
Young Konate, still only 22, started the game against Benfica a few days ago and the defender found the net as well. However, questions were asked of him defensively, especially in the second half of the game that ended 3-3.
Jose Enrique, who’s arguably the most active ex-Liverpool player on the internet these days, named his team for the game tonight and went with Konate ahead of Matip.
When a fan questioned if the Frenchman was fast enough, the former Reds left-back claimed that he thinks Konate is even quicker than Joe Gomez.

Jose Enrique’s preferred Liverpool XI vs Manchester City
Klopp is not short of options for the game this afternoon and picking 11 players will definitely not be easy. Enrique has revealed the team he would go with and we must say, it’s a strong one.
The Spaniard has gone with a front-three of Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Mo Salah playing ahead of Thiago, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.
Konate is the surprise inclusion at the back ahead of Matip, but it’s no shock that he has gone with Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold in front of Alisson in goal.
