Southampton were reportedly left shocked in 2014 by Calum Chambers’ decision to join Arsenal so soon in his career.
The now 28-year-old defender joined the north London side in 2014 for a reported £16m, with Arsene Wenger seeing major potential in Chambers♒ having broken into Southampton’s first-team the previous season.
♓Yet nearly nine years on from the move, Chambers’ career hasn’t hit the heights many expected, with the defender now unable to get a game at Aston Villa as the centre-back has ‘stagnated’.

☂After all, Chambers was one of the hottest prospects in the country back in 2014, yet with Southampton at the peak of their Premier League powers at the time, who knows what could have happened to the centre-back.
