England U21 boss ‘really impressed’ by 4 Leeds academy players

♛Leeds United quartet Cody Drameh, Charlie Cresswell, Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood have been praised by England Under-21 boss Lee Carsley.

🐎The Thorp Arch setup has been in fine form these last few years, with several top talents coming through the ranks and getting into first-team contention.

ꦦAnd over the last few months, there have been several Leeds youngsters featuring and shining for England at age level.

🃏Joe Gelhardt netted a brace against Romania while representing the Under-20s back in September.

ജAlthough Gelhardt has missed out this time round due to injury, Sam Greenwood and Lewis Bate have both featured for England at U20s level this month.

🦄In the Under-21s, Cresswell made his bow on Thursday evening in Thursday’s 3-1 win over the Czech Republic in European Championship qualifying.

💞And Drameh replaced Southampton’s Tino Livramento in the U21s due to an injury, making the bench for the game Burnley.

🌠“I’ve worked with Cody [Drameh] in the [England Under] 20s,” the U21s manager told .

ꦬ“This is the first time I’ve come across Charlie [Cresswell].

🍃“[I’m] impressed with them immensely, especially their attitudes, they’re very good people, they train really well every single day, they compete.

⛄“You can see that it takes them a couple of days to get out of the way they train and they play because obviously they’re very man-to-man,” Carsley added.

🌼“So getting that awareness again and getting that understanding that we play a little bit different, getting onto our wavelength quickly [takes time].

ꦺ“I’ve been really impressed with not only them two, but obviously Joe Gelhardt who came with us last camp, Sam Greenwood as well – there are a lot of good players at Leeds.

ꩲ“I enjoy watching their U23s play as well, I’ve been down to Thorp Arch a couple of times, I really like it, obviously their academy are doing a great job.”
