Emre Can claims Jurgen Klopp never wanted him to leave Liverpool
Former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has claimed Jurgen Klopp didn’t want him to leave the club last summer.
The Germany international departed Anfield to join Juventus on a free transfer, after lengthy talks over a new deal reached an impasse.

Can made 167 appearances for the Reds after joining the club in 2014 from Bayern Munich.
The star showed glimpses of his talent during his four seasons at the club, but often left a lot to be desired in the eyes of some supporters.
He irked some people as reports suggested he was asking the club for a huge pay hike (something he denied, ) but one man who never wanted him to leave according to the player himself was Klopp.

Can, on the verge of winning his first Serie A title with Juventus, : “He was disappointed [Klopp]. He wanted me to stay in Liverpool, but accepted my decision.
“He also knew that it was not a decision against him or against Liverpool, but for a new challenge at Juventus. I had a wonderful and memorable time in Liverpool and will always be grateful to all the people who have supported me there. I am still in touch with Jurgen Klopp.”
TBR’s view
For one reason or another Can felt it was right to leave Anfield last summer, even if his fellow countryman Klopp did not want to see the back of him.

Given Liverpool’s fine season in the Premier League in 2018/19 so far, most fans will not be missing Can too much.
Klopp’s signings of Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Fabinho in particular have allowed them to feel more than happy with the current midfield options.
Can has made 31 appearances so far for Juventus this season, and is slowly but surely establishing himself in Turin – perhaps next term could be the season that makes Liverpool and Klopp live to regret not keeping him.
