Emi Martinez makes claim about Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Perhaps surprisingly, Emi Martinez has named Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as his favourite away ground in the Premier League .
Martinez probably has good memories at almost every ground in the top-flight right now. He has proved to be an inspired signing for Aston Villa.
The Villans finished in mid-table last season. But that was only after they had really flirted with upsetting the apple cart and finishing in the European spots for much of the campaign. Of course, the highlight came when they thrashed defending champions Liverpool 7-2.
But their final away win of the season came in North London. Villa beat Tottenham 2-1 in one of the first games to welcome back supporters.
This season, it was Spurs who secured the bragging rights, winning by the same scoreline. Interestingly, both games saw a left-back score an own goal, with Matt Targett putting through his own net in the more recent meeting.
Nevertheless, when asked to name his favourite away ground in the Premier League, the former Arsenal goalkeeper suggested that he loves the experience of going to Tottenham.
“I’ve got to say Spurs away, a modern stadium. It looks like playing in the NFL. You go away there, massive dressing rooms. It’s like you’re playing in a final,” .

Of course, Tottenham have struggled to keep moving forward in the years since they moved to their new home. And they have been ridiculed at times for that.
However, they will surely benefit from having such a world-class stadium in the coming years. Antonio Conte surely factored in the quality of the surroundings when deciding whether to take the Tottenham job.
And transfer targets may be more inclined to join Tottenham if they agree with Martinez that they have the best ground in the Premier League.
They certainly now have the foundations in place to elevate themselves back to an elite level in the years to come.
