Emi Martinez and Shkodran Mustafi send Instagram messages to Sokratis after Arsenal exit

Arsenal have today confirmed that defender, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, will leave the club six months before the end of his contract.

The big Greek defender leaves the club having fallen down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta, with the 32-year-old expected to move to Italy or Olympiakos.

Sokratis has been with the Gunners since 2018 but has often struggled to hold down a regular place. This summer’s signing of Gabriel Magalhaes pushed him further down the pecking order.

However, Sokratis clearly loved his time with the club and he posted on to send his messages of thanks to all those concerned with the north London outfit.

Sokratis was clearly a popular member of the Arsenal squad and the replies on Instagram from some current and former Gunners ram that point home when it comes the Greek.

A number of footballers, including the recently departed Emi Martinez, took time out to reply to Sokratis and wish him all the best.
