‘Embarrassing’…Gabriel Agbonlahor posts one-word reaction to what 23-year-old Man United star did in win

Gabriel Agbonlahor has posted a one-word reaction on social media to Antony kissing the Manchester United badge after scoring in their FA Cup win over Newport County on Sunday.

Antony returned to the starting lineup for the trip to Rodney Parade. The Brazilian went into the tie still awaiting his first goal or assist of the campaign.

Those runs however, are now over. It was the 23-year-old who provided the assist for Bruno Fernandes’ opening goal against the League Two side.

The former Ajax star volleyed the ball into a largely empty net after Luke Shaw’s attempt came off the post.

During the celebration, Antony decided to kiss the badge on his shirt. And that does not appear to have impressed Gabriel Agbonlahor.

The talkSPORT pundit took to X to post his reaction to the celebration…

Winger has a long way to go before critics are silenced

Fairly or unfairly, the comment highlights that Antony has a long, long way to go before he proves himself at Old Trafford and silences his critics.

He has been a really disappointing signing. Danny Murphy noted during Sunday’s game that Antony appears to have absolutely no interest in shifting the ball onto his right foot when running at defenders. With that, he can become fairly predictable.

Of course, he had no say in the fee which brought him to the Premier League. But his record is nowhere near good enough for United. He now has just nine goals and four assists in 67 games.

And his critics, such as Agbonlahor, will point to the fact that Newport find themselves in the bottom-half of the fourth tier.

United ultimately got the job done on what proved to be a difficult day. But not one single supporter will be getting carried away with the victory.
