‘Embarrassing from a professional footballer’: Don Hutchison rages at £110k-a-week Arsenal man

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has been criticised by Don Hutchison for the amount of foul throws he’s made this season.

The 25-year-old Gunners ace is on five for the campaign – the highest in Europe’s top five leagues – with his latest one coming in the North London derby last Sunday.

Arsenal have stood up for Bellerin, with Mikel Arteta saying he’s sent related images to the Premier League to try and convince the organisation that his player hasn’t broken the rules.

“I think it was really, really harsh,” the Gunners manager is quoted by the as saying on Wednesday.

“We sent the images to the Premier League because there have been many, many incidents, much worse than that but they were never [given as foul throws].

“But we will keep working and making sure that we do the action properly of course.”

Hutchison, however, is not impressed, believing Bellerin’s high foul throw tally is “embarrassing” for a professional footballer.

In addition, the former Scotland attacker isn’t pleased with Arsenal now having more fouls than goals since October.

Hutchison took to Twitter to criticise the man, even suggesting – perhaps tongue-in-cheek – the player should be fined two weeks’ wages.

Hutchison is spot on – for a top-flight player and fully-fledged international to get one of the most basic aspects of football wrong multiple times this season is pretty embarrassing, as is Arteta’s defence of his player.

There’s far too much going wrong at Arsenal right now and, while the Europa League campaign has been fruitful so far, a lot of things need to change now that Premier League fixtures are set to come thick and fast during the festive period.
