Elyounoussi’s display against Manchester City did not impress Southampton fans
2018 has been a challenging year for Southampton and they finished it with a 3-1 home defeat against reigning champions Manchester City yesterday.
The Saints have enjoyed something of a resurgence under Ralph Hasenhuttl but were unable to lay a finger on Pep Guardiola’s side – who may have been seen as a little vulnerable after three defeats in their last four matches.
But that proved not to be the case and it was a timid display by the home side in a match that was all but over before half time; and that misery was compounded by the late dismissal of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The midfielder had at least enjoyed a good afternoon – and he was the man who netted Southampton’s goal – but the same could not be said for winger Mohamed Elyounoussi, who struggled throughout.

The summer signing from Basel has failed to impress so far at St Mary’s and that was the case again as he failed to showcase any kind of attacking threat, albeit on a tough afternoon for the team in general.
Saints fans are beginning to lose patience with the wideman and we’ve put together the best of the reaction…
Elyounoussi has had his time. No where near good enough.

I reckon he was giving one or two a last opportunity before getting rid in the transfer window. Lemina looks like he's not interested, Charlie, Shane, JWP, Elyounoussi all living on borrowed time IMO.

Hopefully this now means Elyounoussi won’t get another look in. He hasn’t offered anything this season

Strange Elyounoussi did a post match interview as I didn't spot him at St Mary's today. Completely non existent on the pitch!

Pretty sure Ali Dia was better than Elyounoussi

elyounoussi is absolutely shocking

Elyounoussi was poor, Austin made an error in first half but at least looked interested and he’s not the sort of player who is going to chase a defender for 90 mins, Long was dreadful and unfortunately is made out for the premier league, bad day at the office against the premier

Mohamed Elyounoussi put in one of the worst ever performances I have ever seen from a Southampton player since Ali Dia
