Elliot Thorpe sends touching message to Danny Rose on Twitter, as Tottenham confirm his Spurs exit

– along with goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga – this week, and Elliot Thorpe reacted on Twitter. The Spurs youngster posted a touching message, informing fans that the ex-England defender’s work behind the scenes was crucial.

Rose, 30, last played for Tottenham in November 2019 during a 3-1 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich. A meaningless defeat in Europe having already been knocked out, Rose was edged out by Jose Mourinho. Now, his contract at Spurs has come to an end.

The ex-Leeds academy product joins Gazzaniga in leaving the club, managing just two Premier League 2 games this season. Thorpe, meanwhile, has hit the headlines recently amid links with Hoffenheim – after scoring a brace in a 4-1 win over Liverpool’s Under-23 side.

Now, he has sent an emotional message to Rice – claiming it is “sad” that Rose’s work behind the scenes with Tottenham’s youngsters will never be recognised. He also stated that he will miss Rose.

Time is right for Rose, but his days at Tottenham must be recognised

It is definitely the right decision. Rose needs to go not only for the good of his career, but for Spurs to get a big earner off the wage bill. Given that his bad spell at the club has come towards the end of his time at Tottenham – his earlier days might be forgotten. But Rose was a proper star for Spurs.

Under Mauricio Pochettino, he clocked up a whopping 214 games for Tottenham, a regular under the Argentine. He was – at one point – considered England and the Premier League’s best left-back for season upon on season. That must be remembered.
