A player heavily linked with Neil Lennon’s Celtic has made a decision on his future amid continued interest from the Parkhead side.
Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull was strongly linked with a £3million switch to Celtic Park last summer and looked to be bound for the treble treble winners until an injury was uncovered in August.
“He’s a player we’ve admired for a while,” Lennon told in June when the move looked like going ahead.

“He had a great breakthrough season. He’s an elegant player, technically he’s very good, proficient with both feet and he scored 15 goals in 30 games, which is quite a return for a midfielder.
The move was called off as the 20-year-old underwent months of rehabilitation following surgery but he is now being eased back into action, having made his comeback against St Mirren at Fir Park on 25 February.
Turnbull played for 19 minutes as Motherwell fell to a 2-1 defeat and, after being an unused substitute against Ross County, he played another 17 minutes off the bench in the draw with Hearts last time out.
The player has now repaid Well for their support in his rehabilitation by agreeing a one-year extension that ties him to the club until the summer of 2022.
“As soon as I knew I was back, fit and ready to get some game time, I wanted to make sure my contract was sorted,” Turnbull told the club .
“I have been here a long time. I feel as if I owe the club and the supporters for the way I have been looked after and treated.”

It’s nice to see a story like this, where a player is looked after by his club and he in turn signs a new contract to repay their faith in him.
With regards to Celtic, however, this doesn’t mean that Turnbull is out of reach, given it’s a one-year extension designed to give Motherwell “a little more protection”.
Should the Hoops still want him, they will likely have to pay more than the £3million price tag from last summer, but given how well Well have looked after him, it’s no less than they deserve.
