‘Electric’… Celtic told they have a ‘game changer’ after 21-year-old seriously impressed on international duty
With Celtic struggling on the domestic scene once more in this weekend’s 1-1 draw with Aberdeen, it was on the international scene that one player seriously impressed.
Hyunjun Yang has shown fleeting glimpses of what he can do in a Celtic jersey but, by and large, the South Korean has struggled to make any real impact at Celtic.
On international duty with South Korea at the moment, it seems that Yang has seriously impressed. In yesterday’s 2-1 win over Australia in the Asian Cup quarter-final, journalist Jason Lee, sent the Celtic fans a message after Yang came on as a second-half substitute to inspire his side to an extra time win.
Lee said on , “By the way Celtic fans, Yang Hyun-Jun was electric when he came on for Korea today.
“Game changer, fearless taking his man on, and completely shifted momentum to Korea’s side.
“He’s raw, he needs time, but if you’re patient, you have a gem on your hands.”
Hyunjun Yang is showing promise for Celtic
Brought on in the 85th minute, Yang helped Korea to fight back from 1-0 down to secure a 2-1 win and a place in the semi-finals of the Asia Cup.
In his 35-minute cameo, Yang had 46 touches and a passing accuracy of 83%. He also made four passes into Australia’s final third and had four touches in the opposition’s box.
The youngster also created one big chance and had one shot on target. []
Yang has blown hot and cold for Celtic since his £2m summer move and hopefully some time away from the Glasgow spotlight will do him good.

It is clear that Yang has the ability to do well and at just 21, the winger still has time to develop. Unfortunately for him though, Celtic are struggling at the moment and need players to come into the side and make an immediate impact.
And that is something that has worked against Yang this season. Hopefully the 21-year-old will gain some confidence from his performances at the Asia Cup and bring that back to Celtic.
With Brendan Rodgers‘ side currently struggling at the moment, Yang could well be that man that helps the title push when he returns from international duty.
