‘Electric’ attacker finally scores for new club eight months after Tottenham sold him, Eddie Nketiah impressed
Former Tottenham Hotspur attacker Dilan Markanday finally scored for Blackburn Rovers last night, eight months after joining the club.
The right-winger scored the final goal in Blackburn’s 4-0 win over Hartlepool United in the EFL Cup last night.
After having the ball pinged into his feet in the box, Markanday controlled the ball with his weaker right foot, before getting it out of his feet and smashing it past the goalkeeper into the bottom corner.
Markanday left Tottenham in January after just a single first team appearance, coming on as a substitute against Vitesse in the Europa Conference League.
The 20-year-old made his debut a day after signing for Blackburn in a 2-0 defeat against Hull but immediately picked up a serious hamstring injury, and wasn’t able to play again until the final day of the season.

Tottenham fans were well aware of Markanday before his departure, appearing on the bench several times before he eventually made his debut.
He had a fantastic scoring record at under-23 level as well, scoring 12 goals in 13 games before moving to the Championship club.
Former manager Tony Mowbray, who originally signed him at Blackburn, , and there will be plenty of intrigue from north London to see if they made the right choice letting the winger go.

Given the amount of investment in Tottenham’s squad this summer, the pathway to the first team would have been made even more difficult for Markanday if he had stayed.
Another Spurs youngster, Alfie Devine, was invited to first team training in pre-season, but couldn’t make the bench for the opening day of the season.
While young keeper Aaron Maguire has just started training with the senior side, but has several established players ahead of him in the pecking order.
