Report: Arsenal tried to sign Dortmund player for Mikel Arteta but Edu pulled the plug
Arsenal have had a busy old summer in the transfer market as they’ve landed a number of new signings for Mikel Arte🥃ta.
The Gunners boss wanted more new faces through the do⛎or🉐 to help his push towards the top four and has been rewarded by the work of Edu, as well as the backing of the owners.
In have come the likes of Gabriel Jesℱus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Fabio Vieira to bolster the first XI. Beyond that, Matt Turner has arrived in goal, while young Brazilian winger Marquinhos has also been snapped up. All in all, it’s been a good window for Arsenal and they might yet make even more signings.

In Charge
Indeed, Arsenal could have had another player in the door it seems, with Edu admitting in an interview with that he’d tried to negotiate a deal for a Borussia Dortmund player,🍬 only to pull the plug because said player was too focussed on money.
“I want to see the playeꦏr, the agent, the family, put everyone together and say, ‘Guys, listen to me and what I want to say’. And then I ♉sell what we are doing, our project. Because it works both ways, doesn’t it? I want to show them, but I want to see as well if they want to enjoy because if I smell something wrong (then) thank you very much, I go (and don’t sign them),” Eduo told .
“I faced an experience like this, for a player in Dortmund. I started to talk to them, engage the player, talk to the ಞfamily, but always, ‘Yeah, but what about my contract?’. I said, ‘Listen, I want to understand first if you engage with this, if you like this. If you like it, I can talk, but not the opposite side’. ‘Ah no, let’s talk about the money…’ No, no, no, no. And one day, I said to the agent🔥: ‘Guys, thank you very much, it’s not what I want to do’. Boom.”
it seems very 🎃much, then💎, that Edu is on top of things off the field for Arsenal.
TBR’s View: Edu Showing His Credentials In Open Interview
It’s clear from the outs⛦ide looking in that Edu Gaspar is a man who knows what he is doing when it comes to getting deals over the 🦄line for Arsenal.
This interview is a unique insi▨ght into just how the Brazilian works as well. His comments here about the Dortmund player are interesting and show that the Gunners won’t be held to ransom. There has been much talk of the ‘project’ under Mikel Arteta, and this shows how part of it works.
Players need to🍌 buy into the way of working, and Edu seems to be a key cog in selling that vision.
