Early signs suggest Lucas Moura will be key for Tottenham this season

Tottenham Hotspur continued their winning ways at the weekend with their second consecutive Premier League win over newly promoted Fulham at the Wembley Stadium.

Despite Pochettino’s lack of transfer activity over the summer, Spurs’ squad looks strong and even better now midfielders Erik Lamela and Harry Winks have returned from their respective injuries.

However, a man who looks destined to do great things this season for the North London club is 26-year-old Brazilian Lucas Moura.

The winger joined Tottenham from Paris Saint-Germain in January last season but was always considered as a signing for the 2018/19 Premier League campaign.

His early arrival in North London was only to ensure he hit the ground running for this season.

Stats suggest the 26-year-old will be a vital component of the Pochettino setup during this campaign.

Moura has had a hand in six goals in his seven starts in all competitions since joining Tottenham Hotspur (two goals, four assists).

His talents were on full display this weekend against Fulham, where the Brazilian linked up delightfully with Harry Kane.

The 26-year-old looked dangerous whenever the ball came to his feet, grabbing himself his first Premier League goal just before the break to top off an almost faultless performance.

However, it was Moura’s constant battling, and physicality throughout that was the most pleasing part of his contribution at the weekend – an attitude that will bode well for Pochettino’s side over the gruelling Premier League campaign.

The Brazilian’s surprising physicality was highlighted on Saturday as he won four tackles, more than any other Spurs player, as well as recovering the ball three times and making two interceptions.

It remains to be seen how Pochettino will use Moura to the best of his abilities, but one thing that is for sure is that there is no better time than now for the tricky winger to be utilised.
