Dylan McGeouch among five Sunderland players ruled out of Accrington Stanley match
Denver Hume and Dylan McGeouch have both joined the injury list ahead of Sunderland’s trip to Accrington Stanley, .
Both Hume and McGeouch were named in the starting line-ups against Ipswich Town last weekend. Hume was taken off at half-time and McGeouch played the full 90 minutes but neither player is fit for tonight’s game.
Sunderland travel to Accrington in the First Round of the EFL Cup. And Ross has confirmed that he is without five senior players for this knockout game. Hume and McGeouch have joined three others on the absentee list.

Defender Glenn Loovens, midfielder Ethan Robson and forward Duncan Watmore are also ruled out. However, Max Power and Charlie Wyke could return for the Black Cats,
Ross has already confirmed that he is ready to rotate his squad for the cup match tonight (). With a big game coming up against Portsmouth, Ross cannot risk any further injuries as he already has five players out.
Who can replace McGeouch and Hume?
McGeouch’s injury opens up a door in central midfield for another player to fill. Elliot Embleton will hope to regain a starting spot in central midfield while Grant Leadbitter and Power will be hoping for their first starts of the season. Robson would have been in the frame too but he is also injured.
As for Hume, Sunderland need to weigh up what to do at left-back. When Hume was replaced at the weekend, Luke O’Nien dropped into full-back with Conor McLaughlin on the other side. This could be an option again unless Ross feels 19-year-old Williams Kokolo is ready.
