Duncan Ferguson predicts who’ll win between Everton and Liverpool in final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park
Everton and Liverpool are set to lock horns in the rescheduled Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.
With the original fixture postponed because of adverse weather conditions, Everton and Liverpool will contest the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park this week.
David Moyes’ Toffees have turned their Premier League form around with three wins from their last three top-flight fixtures, though they lost to Bournemouth in the FA Cup.
Likewise, Arne Slot’s Reds are also out of the FA Cup, suffering a shock defeat at Plymouth Argyle at the weekend, but are top of the Premier League table.
Everton legend Duncan Ferguson has backed the Blues to get their better of Liverpool, sharing five things they must do in the game to triumph against their arch-rivals.

Duncan Ferguson backs Everton to nick win over Liverpool
Ferguson, speaking to Jamie Carragher in The Telegraph, said Everton need to begin by setting the tempo and putting Liverpool under pressure.
Everton would then need to get on top of Liverpool and defend for their lives, while also getting the fans involved in backing their team.
Victory would likely come in the form of Everton nicking it, added Ferguson, with a Blues defender needing to put in a Man of the Match performance.
“I fancy Everton to win,” Ferguson said.
“They can do it if they set the tempo, put them under pressure, get on top of them, get the fans involved and defend for their lives.
“One of the defenders will have to be man of the match, but then they can nick it.”
Carragher, meanwhile, acknowledged that an evening game at Goodison Park would be the ultimate test for Slot’s Liverpool.
“For me, it is the ultimate test of Arne Slot’s new ‘calmer Liverpool’,” said Carragher.
“They have dealt with many challenges this season, but an evening game at Goodison Park is something else.”
Everton v Liverpool team news
Moyes has confirmed that Vitalii Mykolenko could return for Everton, although Nathan Patterson, Seamus Coleman and Dwight McNeil are unavailable through injury.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti are also ruled out for the Merseyside derby, but there could be a first start for January signing Carlos Alcaraz.
As for Liverpool, they will be without Joe Gomez, who is out with a leg issue, while Tyler Morton is still recovering from a shoulder injury.
However, Trent Alexander-Arnold could return after missing two games due to injury.
