‘He is a very, very good’: Paul Robinson waxes lyrical over Newcastle’s ‘inspirational signing’ from 2018

Former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson has laid praise on Newcastle United ace Martin Dubravka.

Speaking on , the former Tottenham Hotspur man claimed he’s an ‘inspirational signing.’

The 32-year-old was assured during Slavakia’s win over Poland as they started Euro 2020 with a win.

Dubravka has been with the Geordies since his initial loan transfer back in January of 2018. The star’s move was made into a permanent transfer in the summer as he joined on a four-year deal.

The figure has been one of United’s most consistent performers during his time at the club.

When talking about the Slovak’s impact on Tyneside, Robinson said: “Dubravka has been an inspirational signing for Newcastle. It hasn’t been an easy season, season and a half, for Newcastle but they stayed in the Premier League and he got Player of the Season which tells you a lot.”

“He is a very, very good goalkeeper and at 32 he still has a lot of time left. He has developed in later years and has got a lot better since coming to the Premier League.”

TBR View: Dubravka one of the few indispensables for Newcastle amid Robinson praise

Among the current members of the first-team squad, there aren’t many who you’d say are indispensable.

Last season was a horror show from September right through to April. It was only mid-way through April when the Magpies picked up something resembling form.

Callum Wilson has shown massive promise since his move from Bournemouth. Meanwhile, has agreed on a new long-term contract.

Dubravka is probably the third and only other indispensable for Steve Bruce this summer.

His performances between the sticks have saved the club at times. in just over 100 games across all competitions is a display of his quality.

However, there are understandable fears over his ball-playing ability.

The ace isn’t the best with the ball at his feet, but, he has improved since his arrival over three years ago.

The Slovakia international averaged 28.5 passes per game in the top-flight last term. He also averaged the third-most long passes for Newcastle.

Amid the praise from Robinson, Dubravka has been a perfect signing for Newcastle. His impact on the side has been second to none and at 32-years-old, he can go on for many more years.
