Douglas Luiz stole the show vs Everton with near-perfect performance
Douglas Luiz was immaculate vs Everton on Saturday.
That was the word that the used about the Brazilian in their player ratings at least.
It’s hard to argue with it either.
Luiz was at the very top of his game as Everton travelled to Villa Park, putting up some superb numbers.
In both defence and attack the former Manchester City man shone.
Not only did Luiz manage to register an assist, but he completed 5 key passes, 1 through ball and 1 accurate long ball.
Then when on the back foot the Brazilian put in 3 tackles and also made an interception ().
This was comfortably Luiz’s best display of the season and it coincided with Villa’s best win of the season so far.
After John McGinn’s injury it gave Luiz the licence to get forward and push on in attack.

That saw a change in his game as we got to see the creative abilities of the defensive midfielder.
The 23-year-old is already a fully fledged Brazilian international and he’s only going from strength to strength.
His assist against Everton was just his 6th assist in 80 games for the Villans ().
However, he clearly has the ability to get forward and contribute to the Villa attack.
His numbers from Saturday show just that.
Notably he was even given corner duty at times against Everton, showing that he has multiple strings to his bow.
Next up for Luiz and Villa is a triple-header of difficult away trips.
Chelsea away is first in the Carabao Cup before league trips to Manchester United and Tottenham.
None of those trips will be easy but with Luiz putting on masterful displays in defence and attack then anything is possible.
