‘Don’t you dare Edu’, ‘we will regret it’: Some Arsenal fans shocked after hearing who Edu has asked about
A number of Arsenal fans have hit out at speculation linking the Gunners with Diego Costa.
According to , Arsenal have enquired about signing the 33-year-old on a free transfer.
Edu has apparently made an “informal consultation” with Costa’s current club Atletico Mineiro.
Arsenal are reportedly eager to find out about the player’s plans for the immediate future.
The report goes on to add that “so far”, there is no official proposal from the Gunners for the player.
Costa is currenty on vacation in Spain, and Corinthians and Sao Paulo have also been linked with the ex-Chelsea player.
Admittedly, Arsenal will be needing a new striker – if not multiple – this year.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future is uncertain. Meanwhile, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract in summer.
A month ago, Fabrizio Romano claimed Arsenal are planning to sign an “important” striker this year who’d become their No. 9 for years to come.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with Dusan Vlahovic, arguably Europe’s best young striker and one most Arsenal fans would love to have at the Emirates.
Now, the same can’t be said of Costa, who is 33 and has split opinion during his career, to put it mildly.
Arsenal will surely have learned their lesson from the likes of Willian.
Signing marquee names in the twilight of their careers hasn’t really worked out for the Gunners in recent years.
Needless to say, there isn’t much appetite amongst Arsenal fans over signing Costa – or even links between the two:
