‘Done deal and here we go’: Fabrizio Romano has some exciting news for Newcastle fans

Fabrizio Romano has finally declared “here we go” on the Bruno Guimaraes to Newcastle United deal.

The Magpies have had to wait a while to land a third January arrival.

Newcastle got Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood over the line, but a lull followed.

There were certainly some disappointments along the way.

But now, it finally looks as though Newcastle have got the Guimaraes deal over the line.

Romano has that the involved parties have signed the relevant paperworks in Belo Horizonte.

Guimaraes reportedly completed his medical in two sessions – yesterday and today morning.

Newcastle will pay 40milllion euro (£33.2million) plus 8m euro (£6.7m) in add-ons, added Romano.

And Guimaraes has reportedly penned a contract with Newcastle until 2026.

Here is what Romano has tweeted about Guimaraes to Newcastle:

“Improved season upon season”

Guimaraes has made 25 appearances in all competitions for Lyon this season, registering six assists.

He has also won three caps for the Brazil national team.

Anton Toloui of recently gave an in-depth insight into Guimaraes’ quality and credentials.

“Bruno Guimaraes is a deep-lying midfielder, technically gifted, exceptional passer, and has brilliant ball retention,” he said.

“You’ll find very few players better at keeping the ball and passing the ball forward.

“He’s also a really hard worker, which is an element of his game that is massively underappreciated.

“For example, at Lyon this season, he’s covered more ground per game than any other player in that squad, so he really does put the work in as well.

“He’s playing the best football of his career at Lyon and is another player who has improved season upon season.”
