that Newcastle have held talks for Overmars, who has sparkled in his role as Ajax sporting director since 2012.

The report also claims that if Overmars ends up on Tyneside, then he will look to appoint Ten Hag to the position of manager. Hutchison reacted.

“The one I read yesterday was Overmars and Ten Hag. Which might be ambitious, but I would take that every day of the week,” Hutchison said.

“Ten Hag is a terrific coach, Overmars has overseen Ajax rake in half a billion quid. It is up in the air.”

Hutchison on Ten Hag, Overmars: Newcastle pulling off a coup

Ten Hag has been excellent as Ajax manager, and he would be a massive coup if Newcastle could convince the Dutch gaffer to join.

He is a target for Munich, Tottenham and Manchester United. So, if Newcastle can convince him, then Amanda Staveley deserves praise.

Perhaps even more importantly, Newcastle need Overmars. Getting value for money with the club’s wealth is crucial, and Overmars can do that.

Newcastle might have to pay over the odds for players, but Overmars is incredible at finding a bargain. Adding Overmars massively helps.
