Don Hutchison delivers 10-word prediction as Everton appoint Rafa Benitez

Everton announced the arrival of Rafa Benitez as manager on Wednesday afternoon, to the tune of a mixed response from Toffees supporters. Many are happy with his arrival, while others are fuming an ex-Liverpool gaffer is in charge. Don Hutchison has delivered a worrying prediction on Twitter.

Benitez, 61, has signed a three-year deal with the Merseyside outfit. It comes after managing Liverpool for six years, earning iconic status at Anfield after holding aloft the Champions League trophy and clocking up 350 games in charge. Everton fans are, understandably, disgruntled.

While many are pragmatic and see Benitez is a trophy-winner, proven, with nous in the transfer market – others see him as an ex-Liverpool gaffer. Former Everton midfielder Hutchison seemingly sees Benitez as the latter, following the appointment.

What Benitez needs to do to ensure Everton success – amid Hutchison prediction

Sam Allardyce hit the nail on the head on Thursday morning. Rafa Benitez has got to get it absolutely bang on straight away, or find himself under incredible pressure that could – as Hutchison says – end in tears. He goes into the job with a split opinion from fans, which makes it even harder.

To allay that, he needs to win football matches. He needs to excite fans. Benitez needs to bring in players that Everton fans will appreciate. Hitting the ground running will get fans onside. Anything less, and it will end in tears, as Hutchison says.
