Don Hutchison claims West Ham should have tried to sign Luka Jovic on loan

Don Hutchison has claimed that West Ham should have tried to sign centre-forward Luka Jovic from Real Madrid on loan in January.

The Serbian striker scored 27 goals in all competitions last season for Eintracht Frankfurt and that earned him a move to the Bernabeu in the summer.

But he’s managed just one goal in 21 games across all competitions this campaign for Spanish giants Madrid and has struggled for regular minutes.

The 22-year-old only started one of the club’s six group stages matches in the Champions League and has one start in the last 16 league games.

Ex-Hammers midfielder Hutchison has stated that West Ham should have tried to bring him to the Premier League on loan.

The previously reported that a loan exit was viewed as a viable option in January amid interest from Tottenham and Chelsea, but he ended up staying in Madrid.

TBR’s View:

Jovic is an attacker desperately out of form right now in Spain, but he’s still a young talent with a massive future and his season last year at Eintracht was no fluke.

He would have been a major high-profile addition had West Ham made an attempt to sign him and secured a loan deal to take him to the London Stadium, but he will look to kick on in the second half of the season with Madrid.

Jovic was part of an exciting attack next to Sebastien Haller last season in the Bundesliga and the duo have suffered a dip this season.

West Ham striker Haller has shown in glimpses his quality and has six goals in 26 games across all competitions this season, but the best is yet to come from him.
