Don Hutchison changes mind, now wants currently-employed Premier League boss at Everton

Following the exit of Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid, Everton icon Don Hutchison told a fan on Twitter he wanted Nuno Espirito Santo. But fast forward just over a week and posed with the same question, and Hutchison has changed his mind – picking Brighton’s Graham Potter instead.

The exit of Ancelotti was a surprise one. Many thought that Real Madrid would pick between either Antonio Conte – who has left Inter Milan – or Mauricio Pochettino, currently at PSG. But instead, they chose to stick with what they know. Ancelotti has returned to the club after leaving in 2015.

On June 2, Hutchison responded to Ancelotti’s exit by telling a fan he would like recently-departed Wolves boss Santo at Everton. The Portuguese gaffer remains without a club, after talks with Crystal Palace broke down. But now, Hutchison would like to see Potter get his chance in the Everton job.

Hutchison suggestion Potter is linked with Everton, a good move?

Fans of Premier League football will have noticed Potter’s work at Brighton. Under Chris Hughton beforehand, the Seagulls played incredibly negative football that only just kept them up. While Brighton are still in the bottom third of the division – they are playing so much more exciting stuff.

It is a vast improvement and credit must go to Potter for engineering that, despite not being given vast amounts of money to work with. Ancelotti’s Everton became flat and defensive towards the end of the season and fans want an attacking manager.  Potter might be ideal.
