Don Hutchison believes three Liverpool would benefit from any Thiago signing

Liverpool continue to be linked with a summer move for Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcantara.

The Reds are said to be keen to bring the Spaniard to Anfield, but don’t want to pay the £23 million asking price ().

It is thought the reason for that is that Thiago only has a year left on his contract at the Allianz Arena.

The playmaker has been wowing over the past few weeks with his performances in the Champions League, and tonight he takes on Paris Saint-Germain in the final in Lisbon.

Another strong performance is only likely to increase the clamour from Reds supporters, and in the eyes of former Liverpool midfielder Don Hutchison, Thiago would be a steal for the price being talked about.

(): “The worry is, Gini Wijnaldum’s going into the last year of his contract and he’s been linked with Barcelona and maybe working with Ronald Koeman again.

“I think that’s the problem but when you look at what Thiago’s been doing for Bayern, not just in the Champions League that we’ve seen in the last couple of weeks but in the many years he’s been there, he is just a ridiculous talent.

“I think for the money that’s being talked, in and around £30 million, I think it’s an absolute steal.”

And Hutchison identified three players that would specifically benefit from any Thiago signing.

“He can hit the likes of [Sadio] Mane down the left-hand side and Mo Salah and drop balls into [Roberto] Firmino,” he added.

TBR’s View – Thiago would benefit everybody

Thiago is quality, and him operating in that deep-lying midfield position means that, arguably, there’s not a single player he wouldn’t benefit.

His brilliant vision and execution allows him to pick anybody out, and Liverpool cannot afford to play hardball with Arsenal now reportedly joining the chase ().
