Don Hutchison believes Benitez could cost Everton millions to sack

Former Everton ace Don Hutchison has claimed it will cost the club ‘millions’ to sack Rafael Benitez.

have claimed that the Blues will confirm the appointment of the Spaniard today or tomorrow. Benitez has agreed on a three-year deal to take over from Carlo Ancelotti, who left for Real Madrid.

It proves a highly contentious appointment for the blue-half of Merseyside after his time with Liverpool. The 61-year-old was successful for the Reds, winning the Champions League and FA Cup in his first two seasons.

TBR View: Hutchison right in his assessment of Benitez and Everton marriage

Hutchison is right in his assessment of the potential marriage of Benitez and Everton.

Whilst the coach is talented and can get the club back on the right path, it’s a move set-up to fail.

From the disapproval of fans right through to what would be his high demands, the move possesses too many risks.

His previous CV is just one sign of why he’d demand for a large salary, and on a three-year deal that proves expensive.

Sacking the former Valencia man would likely cost ‘millions’, as per Hutchison, which Everton can’t afford.

The Merseysiders announced a loss of back in December 2020, mostly thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic. Paying off a manager, who is destined to fail is simply a cost the outfit can’t afford.
