Does Leeds injury crisis give Shackleton an unexpected chance to shine?
Marcelo Bielsa will be scratching his head when deciding which team to put out against Wigan Athletic this weekend.
Leeds United have an injury crisis at the back. Luke Ayling and Gaetano Berardi are both out, leaving a dilemma at right-back.
Barry Douglas’ imminent return is good news but who will Bielsa select as his starting right-back?
This could be an unexpected chance for Jamie Shackleton to prove his worth.
Shackleton is predominantly a central midfielder and Bielsa rates him very highly.

But he can also fill in at right-back and has done so already this season. It seems Bielsa trusts him to play in that position in the league.
With Ayling out for a long while and Berardi’s return date unknown, the right-back spot will be vacant for a while.
Shackleton must use this opportunity to nail down the starting spot at right-back, even though he is more naturally suited to playing in central midfield.
With Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich performing well and Lewis Baker and Adam Forshaw waiting in the wings, there is little chance of the 19-year-old breaking into the first-team central midfield soon.
But he has a chance to shine at right-back and this could be his ticket into the first-team on a regular basis.
