Djibril Sidibe says Lucas Digne helped convince him to join Everton this summer

Everton new-boy Djibril Sidibe says that his French international team-mate Lucas Digne helped convince him to move to Merseyside this summer.

Sidibe has credited the £90,000-a-week () defender with selling him the ambition of the club and the pair could now be lining up at full back together.

He : “I asked Lucas about many things – about the philosophy of the coach and the regime. He told me about the ambitions of the club.”

TBR’s View – If Sidibe can emulate his countryman, Everton have got a real coup

Everton dearly needed someone to provide cover and competition for Seamus Coleman – who didn’t have his best season last term – at right back.

And last time Everton dipped into the French full back market, they got an absolute gem in Digne. If Sidibe can have the same impact, it could make a real difference to their backline.

Sidibe came in late in the transfer window, which can sometimes see players make a slow start, but having Digne there to help him settle in may help him to settle quicker.

It helps that the right back has done his homework on the club as well, and Toffees fans will hope that he can help them push into Europe.
