Djibril Sidibe hints that he is hoping to complete permanent Everton move

that “all the lights are green” over a permanent move from AS Monaco to Everton this summer, though nothing is confirmed or agreed.

Sidibe, 27, joined Everton in the summer on a loan-to-buy deal and the 18-time France international has since clocked up 24 appearances for The Toffees in all competitions. He has even laid on five assists for the Merseyside outfit.

However, he had a shocker on Sunday afternoon as Chelsea steamrolled former manager Carlo Ancelotti and Everton 4-0 at Stamford Bridge. After the match, Andy Gray claimed Sidibe was “all over the shop”.

Everton have a £13million clause to make the loan permanent. Speaking to RMC Sport, Sidibe stated that he is keen to remain at Everton – but understands that there are issues that need to be ironed out between the clubs.

“I had a discussion with the leaders of Monaco, they know my position and I know theirs,” Sidibe said. “My goal is to play high intensity matches which is what I discovered in the Premier League.

“Regarding Everton, I have my position and I also know that of the coach [Ancelotti]. I can’t say [if Everton will activate clause]. For my part, all the lights are green, the coach appreciates me, he trusts me.

“There are parameters that will come into play and that I do not control on the side of Monaco and Everton. My goal is to play as many matches as possible until the end of the season.”

TBR’s view – Do Everton need to sign Sidibe?

Seamus Coleman remains a very adequate option on the right side of the defence and although he has perhaps enjoyed his best days, he is still easily Premier League standard. Jonjoe Kenny is shining in Germany.

Though the young English ace may want to remain in the Bundesliga, Everton should look to do all they can to keep Kenny. With Kenny and Coleman, they have two excellent right-sided defenders. Mason Holgate can also do a job.

So, do Everton need to sign Sidibe permanently? It all depends on the future of Kenny.
